About this Collection

This Collection was an idea that occurred to me for the love of Tunisian Honeycomb Stitch Pattern, soon after the publication of the Somersault Cardigan, published in Interweave Crochet, Winter 2017. “Why not create much more using this adorable and versatile stitch pattern ?!”. The publisher’s name was Somersault Cardigan but my name to that cardigan was “Earth & Sky Cardigan”, that’s what I have named this collection after.

The Earth & Sky Collection gets its inspiration from the Earth and the Sky meeting at the horizon, which translates in the design as “Colour Blocking” using two contrast colours. And the tweed stitch pattern with two colours gives a good transition between the two colour blocks. Each design in this collection are named after the variants of colour used which translates into the varying Earth & Sky colours at different times of the day or the season. But as a maker, you have so much more options to explore on these designs/patterns. You can literally play with colours like,

  • Make completely with one colour.
  • Make completely with the two colour tweed.
  • Can use more than two colours, multicoloured blocks
  • Can use a ombre/monchromatic blocks, etc.

Tunisian Honeycomb Stitch pattern is used throughout the project, giving a subtle texture to the fabric, easy to create, and no worries of curling. Along with the sport weight yarn it makes relatively thinner fabric when compared to the usual tunisian crochet fabric. Also this stitch pattern creates a good tweed with two colours for the transition block (same stitch pattern but working with two colours).
